It's Nurses Week!!!!

This week is Nurses Week! So the hospital where I work had a "Dessert Extravaganza" for all the nurses...

A close up of the decadence...
This was just a small sampling of a truly extravagant event. I only nibbled on some fruit and a small tiramisu, but it was nice to enjoy the festivities with my fellow nurses.

This morning I took dragged Kai out of bed to go running with me. She only did half of a mile (800m) before it started to rain lightly, so I sent her inside to go rest a bit before it was time to get ready for school. Then I did two 1 mile repeats on my own...

After the "speed work" I did my yoga recovery...
These compression sleeves and ankle sleeves are my new best friends :)

I've also been working really hard on my push-ups. I know I've mentioned it quite a few times but I am now at Day 6 of the 30 Day Challenge...
...and I don't feel a whole lot stronger.

I've been trying to do a daily video analysis of my progress, and today I did a breakdown frame-by-frame...
This is my typical starting position.
I'm trying to keep my back straight, and both my elbows & wrists steady.

This is as far as I can bend my elbows...
...while still trying to keep my back as straight as I can.

I did attempted 10 push-ups today. And then I tried to do a forward facing view of my form...
I need to get my elbows to bend more...maybe they're stuck :(

I also spent some time researching blister prevention and treatment...
Because I ran this morning I now have blisters developing underneath the previous blisters which, I can tell you from first hand experience, is ALOT worse than it sounds.

So even though I had on blister bandaids and the right socks with extra padding, I still wasn't able to do much prevention this morning. After work I went to "the corner of happy and healthy" and got these...
I'm going to test them out on Friday when I run again. Hopefully these will do the trick ;)

Tomorrow is a cross-training day for me. Strength training might be on the agenda (it's either that or swimming) so I'll need to decide if I'm doing a upper body and core workout or focusing on my legs.

How was your Wednesday? Is this a running/rest/cross-training day of you?

Please share your push-up tips! What tricks do/did you use to get better at push-ups?

Would you rather constantly lose your toenails or have blisters on your feet all the time?
