Making History...

I definitely wouldn't starve today because I RAN 15 MILES THIS MORNING!!!! I'm so excited and proud of myself. That's the longest distance I've done. Ever.
I Made History Today!!!

The morning started relatively early...
I really wanted to get started before 6am but, despite waking up at 5 am, it took me forever to get ready and head to the beach this morning.

By the time I started my run the humidity was moderate...

I wore my new running tank...

And took a "pre-run" pic (I tried to catch the sunrise but that didn't quite work out)...

And then ran 15 amazing miles!!!
Ok so they didn't necessarily feel amazing while I was running but they sure feel amazing now!

This is what the tank looks like once I'm drenched in sweat 15 miles later...

Post-run pics...

The breakdown of my splits (courtesy of Garmin)...
Mile 15 was my fastest mile :)

Cadence over the 15 miles...
(lots of water stops)

I spent a great amount of time icing my joints (knees and ankles) and figuring out how to minimize the pain from my new blister.
And then it was time to eat lunch...
The best way to celebrate an amazing running accomplishment is with amazing food :)
{Bar-b-cue Salmon and Asparagus (minus a bite)}

And then the rest of the day was all about rest and relaxation, more icing and catching up on my favorite shows on Hulu+ and Netflix. I'm still on Cloud 9 after my run...

How was your Sunday? Did you do anything fun or exciting today?

How do you celebrate after a running/racing milestone?

What are your plans for Memorial Day?

  1. Congrats on your run! That is so awesome!!!! So excited for you hitting a new "longest" mileage milestone. Especially in that heat and humidity. Here in Ohio I missed a few weeks of running and I swear it went from cold (long sleeves & tights) to exhaustingly hot (sports bra and shorts)! When do I get to wear some capris or a short sleeve t-shirt?? Maybe I missed that week or something ;)
And that tank top is really cool! Where did you get that?

I hope the weather doesn't get too out of control in Ohio the way it does in Florida :)

The heat is brutal but since I can't do the treadmill my options are limited :)
