The Random Report...

As promised, I kept Thursday and Friday as rest days. I did a lot of stretching but not much of anything else "activity-wise" because I wanted to give my joints a break. When I ran on Wednesday evening, Niqui and I were talking about my heavy footfall. She told me I should try "running like a gazelle" and "lightly bounce" from one foot to the other...
That's what I try to do, it just never quite works out that way.
Well...the falling happens for sure but not so gracefully ;)

Friday, in addition to being a rest day, was also the start of the annual road trip I take with my mom and baby sister to Orlando :) I spent the days prior simultaneously packing for two upcoming trips...

And spent most of the day on Friday reflecting on my running journey. I got a lot of love and support from fellow runners on Instagram...
(I'm proud to be a part of the running community)

This morning (despite a late night watching movies) I got up and ran. I started out a lot later than I wanted to because it was pretty dark outside and I was too scared to run until the sun rose a bit more. I planned a 10K for today and that's what I did...

I'm still having residual muscle soreness (it's been a week since my 20 miler...not sure if I should still be this sore). But mostly I'm concerned about the joint pain. Despite all of that I'm glad I was able to complete the run...

I have a schedule for tomorrow but I will adjust based on how I feel when I wake up. I may take tomorrow off and run on Monday morning instead. I'm planning to "not have a plan" and really just go with how I feel. Between travel, work, and social commitments with family and friends, this weekend straight through to next weekend will require a certain level of fluidity in my training plan. So I'll focus on listening to my body and running when I can, remembering that some pain is to be expected (but persistent pain is not ok)...

Today was a day filled with shopping at the Orlando Gift Show...

My mom and sister did most of the shopping...

I rested my legs and hydrated...

And became the "keeper of the bags" so Mommy and Jule could shop some more...

I popped in every now and then to distract Jule with selfies...
And to remind them I was still there cause otherwise they would shop for days :(

But as much as I hate shopping I didn't complain once all day :) After shopping we ate dinner and then I continued my "keeper of the bags" job while Mommy and Jule went on this ride...
I get really dizzy on rides like these so I opted not to try it

What's your favorite amusement park ride?

Do you go to gift/trade shows? Which ones?

How would you describe your running style? Is it "gazelle-like"?

  1. I definitely do not run like a gazelle and my PT told me I land heavy too. 20 milers can be really draining so just take time to rest up and rejeuvenate. :)

    1. Do you find you get more injuries compared to your running friends that don't land heavy? I tried "landing lightly" the other day and that din't work out. I'm really trying to rest as much as I can because I don't want to overdo it before my big event :)
