Then as we finished the 5 miles I joined Mary and Andy and ran 8.1 miles with them...
There are 3 more long runs left before NY so I'm both nervous and excited. I'm definitely feeling more confident though. The 13.1 miles this morning felt good and I could have run farther if I needed to (or wanted to...which I didn't). But the biggest boost of confidence will probably come after my 20+3 miler next week. My plan is to run (run:walk) for 20 miles and then walk an additional 3 miles (to get the time on my feet covered).
I'm in the final stretch of my "NY Marathon Racecation" planning and I found out yesterday that I was selected to be a delegate for Jamaica in the Opening Ceremony for the marathon!!!
I'm so excited about this! I get to walk in the parade with fellow Jamaican runners and runners from all the other countries being represented. It's a great way to meet other people who will be on the course, and also a great way to start the marathon festivities early ;)
It's a good thing I kept all my #TeamJamaica Rio Olympics gear! Between the glasses, head band, flag, and any one of my Jamaica tops, I'm all set...
This trip to NY will be Kai's first time in the Big Apple so I plan to take her sightseeing. The sightseeing will be great for me too because even though this isn't my first trip I haven't done much sightseeing when I've gone. During this trip, between all the marathon related activities, I want her to see the 9/11 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, and maybe the Empire State Building (if we have time). Where else should I take her? Oh! and I need recommendations for great food places too please :)
