So, with that looming over my head (and Hurricane Matthew out of the way) I decided to go for a run...
It's been a while since I've been able to run at a sub-12 min/mile pace for five miles, especially since I included some "hill work" in this run...
It's not much of an elevation but this is the closest I'm able to get to hill work right now. Where I live is as flat as a pancake and the highway overpass near my house is the closest thing I have to a hill.
I didn't quite have negative splits but they were pretty decent overall...
Most of my neighbors put up shutters in preparation for the hurricane (as did I); and when I was walking around after my run I couldn't help but notice that it makes the complex look really deserted...
(at least the cars let you know that people actually live here)
My long run for this week will probably be on Sunday (I'm going to aim for at least 10 miles) and then next weekend I'll do my second (and final) 20 mile training run. Then I'll taper just in time for race day on November 6th!!!
This Sunday, while I attempt 10 (or more) miles, tens of thousands of runners will be lining up for the 2016 Chicago Marathon!!!
GOOD LUCK CHICAGO MARATHON RUNNERS!!!!!
Were you or your family/friends affected by Hurricane Matthew? (I hope everyone is ok!!!)
Where/How do you do your hill training?
Have you ever run Chicago or New York before?
