Home For The Holidays...

I've been on vacation mode since Christmas Eve when I came home for the holidays. And not my usual vacation mode where I work out every day (which is what I should be doing), but an actual "I've only exercised once in the 8 days I've been here" vacation mode...

Christmas Eve was spent traveling; hanging out with family; and doing Snap Chat shenanigans with my baby sister...

Then we went over to my cousin's house and hung out with him for a bit...

On Christmas morning my family and I went to Church; then we went back to our respective houses and finished our Christmas Dinner food preparations; then we had a wonderful Christmas Dinner together; and then we opened presents. My favorite gifts were a top that says "Faster in Jamaica"...

A running shirt with "thisismyfaster.com" embroidered on the front...

And a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle made from pictures of my race medals...

On Boxing Day (December 26th) I went on a walk hike with my sister-in-law. We went through a residential area called Mountain Spring, which is known for the steep incline of the road. I tried to capture the incline in pictures but when I looked back at them I noticed that you really can't appreciate how steep it is in a photo. But it was a nice and quiet (albeit challenging) walk.

Later that morning my family went over to my twin sister's house for the annual brunch that she and my brother-in-law put on. I spent the day eating; catching up with family and friends, and posing with "Flat Stanley" for my niece's holiday project...

One of my best friends decided to come to Jamaica on a last minute trip, so on Boxing Day night we picked her up from the airport and headed straight to an "I Love Soca" party...

December 27th was spent taking a mini road trip to what I will only refer to as "my least favorite beach". The best part about the beach was the view...

My brother-in-law and some of his family members were also there along with my daughter & best friend. I was grumpy most of the time, but everyone else made the most of it...

On December 28th my sisters, daughter, best friend and I went for lunch, and then we went to Devon House for their famous ice cream (sadly I couldn't have any because of the dairy). Then later that night the adults went out to a 90s Dancehall party...

The live entertainment kept the party interesting all the way to the end...

On December 29th we spent most of the day at my favorite beach 😊. This beach trip was exponentially better than the last one. The water was beautiful and the food was amazing! After eating and tanning for most of the day we went back home and watched the I AM BOLT movie before heading out to have drinks with my cousin. My brother-in-law has this really cool projector and we used that to cast the image (from the computer) against the wall...

On December 30th my best friend left to head back to Florida and I spent the day lying in bed sick. I think the back-to-back nights of staying out late, and therefore being exhausted, just crashed my immune system. I was stuck in bed with flu like symptoms all day 😷. The highlight of my day was that my mom made me chicken soup and it tasted great (even though I had a sore throat and it was hard to swallow I ate/drank all of it).

I woke up this morning feeling marginally better. I still have a sore throat but the achy skin and joint pain have improved. And I'm still coughing and sneezing a lot, and still feel exhausted, but I'm definitely better than yesterday.

I hope I feel a lot better by tomorrow since I start my 2017 running streak on New Years Day. I only have to do a mile (so I don't have to wake up too early) but I definitely don't want to skip it. I'm also combining my 2017 running streak with the 30 day Ragnar Training Challenge, to help me stay on track for my 2017 running goals...

How has your holiday period been?

What are your plans for New Years Eve?

What are your goals for 2017?
