The Year Of The Full: Chapter 9- Four More Long Runs & Four More Months...

I ran today! I took my time, did 5:1 intervals, kept myself mentally distracted once the pain started and got through 3.1 miles...

I'm really loving the negative splits I did today...

It was ridiculously humid and I was drenched with sweat by the end of the run but I was all smiles anyway...

I was kind of surprised that it was still so dark at the end of the run, but then I realized that we only have 21 more days of Summer!!! I'm excited about the Fall season :) and not just because of the associated decrease in humidity ;)

I really needed the confidence boost that this run provided. I've been fighting off the typical negative mood that normally accompanies things not going the way I've planned in my rehab process. And a lot of times not seeing/feeling the healing as fast as I want can be disheartening. But this morning's MilePost quote helped...
And I spent most of the run thinking about what I truly wanted to get out of the rest of my training this year...which is to finish Chicago (and the rest of my races) safely.

I'm planning to do some weight training tomorrow and then hopefully run again on Thursday. If I stay on the right path with my physical therapy and training this week I may be able to complete another  run on Saturday. I'm not going to over do it though so I'm not counting this weekend as a long run weekend, which means I only have four more long runs before Chicago!!!!

This year is going by so fast. I can't believe it's September already! With only four more months left I am way behind on completing the items on my **15 New Things for 2015** list (I have 10 things left). So I decided to stop procrastinating and sign up for a virtual race (#13) through Races for Awareness...
(I get to choose whatever distance I want so I'm going to try to complete the virtual race the next time I do a 5K run)

How is your marathon/half marathon training going?

Have you ever done a virtual race?

What new running/training thing did you do (or do you want to do) this year?
