Life Happens, So Make Everyday Epic...

It's been a crazy week but I was able to get a few short runs in. Not much cross training happened though so I'm really going to try and fix that next week. Last night's 5K was a tough one...
I'm trying to stay at a sub-12 min/mile pace and work my way to a sub-11 pace. My goal to have a 10 min/mile pace by the end of the year isn't going to be possible, so I'm working from now to achieve that by the end of next year. That requires a more rounded training plan though so I know I have to get back to the gym and continue my physical therapy exercises etc.

Post-run selfie from last night...

My pace on Wednesday was much better...
(a whole minute better!!!)
I'm definitely more rested for my morning runs (well usually I am)....

The only challenge with my morning training runs during the week is that I have limited time. Dropping the teenager to school and heading to work at a respectable hour limits how much time I can spend pounding the pavement. Plus, with the time change and "Winter" approaching it's pretty dark outside early in the morning :(

Tomorrow I run again. I am planning to do as many miles as I can, as early as possible, and then head to the Color Run 5K...

I picked up the race packets today and decided to get a few extra stuff...
I normally don't wear my race shirts on race day since I'm collecting them (I want to get a race shirt quilt made), so I'm going to try and find an old running top to wear.

And then on Sunday I'm volunteering at one of the water stations for the Michelob Ultra Ft. Lauderdale Half Marathon...

It will be a VERY long morning cause the water station volunteers have to be there from 5am to 11am...

(I can run the race twice in that time!)

But, volunteering at a race was one of the things on my *15 New Things for 2015* bucket list so I'm happy to do it. Plus I get to cheer people on and encourage them and provide well needed refreshments! It will be nice to "give back" to the running community.

I'm trying to live by this mantra...
Life is too short not to. This is especially true in light of the events in Paris today :(

What's next on your race calendar? Anyone running this weekend?

Have you done the Color Run before?

Have you worked/volunteered at a race water station before? Any tips?
