The Year of the Full: Chapter 11: Running for Wine (and Food)...

I started the morning (and the month) with a steady 8 mile run with one of my running friends. As much as I enjoy my solo runs I've been lacking the motivation to get out and do them, so running with friends has been a blessing for me...

The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon is next weekend so it was also beneficial to train with someone else who is running that race...

Mary and I both had really bad injuries this year so we decided to do a slow long run today...
Neither of us have time goals for the Wine & Dine. Plus I think it might be hard to have a time goal for a Disney race because there is so much going on along the course.

A breakdown of my splits...

In addition to the Disney half, November also hosts the Hug-A-Runner virtual race series. I've done the hug-a-runner virtual race in the past but this year I decided to participate more (aka purchase the registration that comes with a medal) and share the step-by-step guide on "how to hug a runner"...

Step 1: Determine if a "hug" is going to be ok...

Step 2: Alert them of your presence...

Step 3: Indicate that you have huggable arms...

Step 4: Hug and release (don't let things get weird)...
So now that you have the steps there are no excuses: find a runner to hug at some point this month :)

I also spent sometime watching the TCS New York Marathon...
I tried to see if I could spot any of the people I knew were running but of course I couldn't. But, I was able to witness the amazing women's and men's elite races! NY is definitely on my Bucket List and I can't wait to do it one day (maybe when I can complete my summer training in a cooler environment because until then I probably won't be signing up for any more Fall full marathons)

Did you run NY today? How was it?

What "big city" marathons have you done or do you want to do?

Are you going to hug-a-runner this month?

  1. I probably won't do too many marathons, but Dublin, London or Berlin would be my choices.. I might try and do one of them (probably Dublin) next year. The Disney marathons sound like they are a massive thing over in the States?

    1. The Disney races are very popular. They are also pretty expensive compared to other races but I'm told it's worth it from other people that have run them before :) I'll let you know if I agree ;)
Dublin sounds like a cool one to do! You should plan for it. At least one full :)
