Third Time This Year...

I'm back in Chi Town!!!! This is my third trip to Chicago this year, which makes so much sense since it's my favorite city to visit! In May I was here for the Chicago Spring 1/2 marathon (in June I was here for Ragnar Chicago) and now I'm here for the Chicago Fall 1/2 marathon (as part of the Chicagoland series).

I signed up for the series because... race bling (you get an extra medal when you do both the Spring and Fall 1/2 marathons). My May trip was a "mommy daughter" trip and I was able share my favorite city with my favorite person (Chicago is now one of Kai's favorite places too). This trip is a "girls trip" and I here with my mom, my twin sister, and my baby sister...
(Yup, we are all running/walking in the event on Sunday!!!)

My mom and Jule (baby sister) signed up for the 5K at the race expo and Sanya (twin sis) had decided to do the half with me several months ago (my bib color is different because of the Chicagoland series).

The race expo was a lot smaller than I anticipated (considering the number of runners that normally participate) but we still had a great time looking for stuff to buy (and then buying them). I'm not a big fan of shopping. Actually I usually hate shopping, but Kai always points out that the only time I don't hate shopping is when I'm shopping for running stuff. She's right. To be fair though, the race expo had great prices and I was able to get a pair of my favorite CW-X compression pants for 50% off (it's almost a crime to not buy it then right?)

They also had a "wall of names". Well kind of, it was the red #chihalf banner that Sanya and I are standing in front of...

But I could barely make out my name...

We spent the rest of the day doing some of the usual tourist stuff...

And enjoying other beautiful pieces of art throughout the park...

Then going to eat at one of our favorite restaurants...
If you go to Chicago you must eat at Bandera. The food is pretty incredible :)

We walked around Michigan Ave for a bit and then ended our evening with...

They don't allow pictures or videos once the show starts so we took a "we were here" selfie before we had to turn our phones off...
(The show was ok. I probably won't go to it again though.
Or at least, I won't pay as much as I paid to go to it again)

What are you up to this weekend? Anyone in Chicago for the half marathon?

What's your city and favorite restaurant in that city?

Have you ever gone to a Blue Man Group show? What did you think?

  1. Chicago would be a great city to run in for sure! I'd love to do this half one day. Looks like a fun city.
My favorite city is New York City, hands down. I'm SOOO anxious to go back in 2017 for the NYC Marathon. I just love NY. :)
