TGIF!

I'm so excited today is Friday! In addition to the obvious celebratory reaction because the weekend is here, this Friday is even more spectacular because Kai comes home tomorrow! I'm more excited than she is (after all coming home means summer vacation is coming to an end and school will be starting) but that does not concern me one bit! I can't wait! This is her on the waterside enjoying the last full day of her vacation...
(yeah, it's hard for her to look forward to completing summer book reports after that...oh well! I'm still excited!)

This morning I didn't head to the gym, but I walked around my complex for a bit this afternoon. I decided to take the walk at a moderate pace in my trusty Brooks sneakers but without my knee brace...
Apart from the humidity, and annoying summer time bugs, the walk was fine...I felt "twinges" in my knee (can't think of a better way to describe the sensation) so I didn't go as far or as long as I initially intended. There were other people power walking/jogging around the complex as well...
(literally walking circles around me)

I'm trying to decide if I should do my weekly LR tomorrow morning instead of Sunday. I'm going to see how I feel when I wake up in the morning, but if walking for the short period this afternoon is any indication I may just need one more day.

My goal is to complete a 5 mile LR and to focus on a slow build-up of mileage up to 10 miles for my LRs (after which 10 miles will be my minimum LR distance in preparation for my 2015 training plan).
You might have to zoom in a bit for a detailed view (I promise the picture quality will get better...baby steps). I have little pictures for my cross training days and I typed in my mid-week running sessions. The 5K on Aug 23rd is a special one so I have my schedule adjusted to accommodate that.
This is the tentative plan for the next 3 months...thoughts?

Ultimately I want each run to be meaningful so that I safely build up the foundation core mileage...

At the same time I know I have a lot of work to do on my form, so I don't want to push myself too early and regret it

I found this picture (below) regarding running form that I thought I would share in case anyone else finds it useful...

What are your weekend plans?! Feel free to answer in numbers (i.e. how many miles you are planning on running)

Thinking about sharing this blog with your friends? Yes, that's a great idea! The more the merrier :)
