In The Meantime...

I promise promise promise to have the Reggae Half Marathon Race recap posted soon :)  I have a lot of thoughts about the event (and the entire weekend) so I didn't want to rush through a post just to "get it done". Plus it's been kinda hectic (work stuff) and I've been kinda distracted (life stuff) so I haven't been able to dedicate the amount of time I need to write a proper recap. But I will by this weekend, I promise.

In the meantime I have a bunch of other stuff to talk about...

I'm supposed to do an 18 mile run this weekend if I'm going to stay on track with training. So I decided to sign up for a half marathon in order to take advantage of: (1) the closed course; (2) scheduled water stops; & (3) on-site medical help (you know, just in case). The half marathon of choice is the Run For Tomorrow Weston half...

The race website (here) said that the medals were "upgraded" this year, but for the first time I'm not that concerned about the medal (shocking I know). It's all about getting the mileage done safely this weekend. I'm going to try and get 5 miles done before the race and then complete the half for the full 18 miles (wish me luck!). I anticipate that it might be a hot & humid race because it doesn't start until 6:20am. I hope I'm wrong though.

The weather for my 5 mile run this morning was great! It's been raining for the past few days (which is not that shocking since it's Florida; but just a little annoying since it's December) so I was concerned that it was going to be humid. But, even though I was sweating profusely by the end of the run, the weather was pretty nice...

I'm trying to maintain sub-60min 5 mile runs (today was not one of those days)...

I started off a lot slower than I wanted to for mile one, but mile five ended up being a lot faster than I expected it to be...
I'm really liking the fact that 5 miles has become my new mid-week run distance (it used to be a 5K), especially since it takes about 3 miles for me to find my running groove ;)

How has your running/training been going?

What are your mileage plans for this weekend?

What do you talk about when you're not talking about running?
