It's About Progress, Not Perfection

Tomorrow I have to report for Jury Duty!!!!! I think I might be the only person that gets this excited about Jury Duty. I could give an explanation about feeling honored to do my civic duty for this great nation yadda yadda yadda. But really I'm hoping it's like a real life version of a great John Grisham novel... except I'm in the jury and not a part of the legal team.... and it's probably not a major court case... and it's even less likely that there will be any jury sequestering or tampering... so in reality maybe nothing like a John Grisham book :( Oh well! I'm still excited about it ;)

Just in case I get picked and the Jury gets sequestered I figured it would be wise to run tonight.
So I did a short 4 mile run with my Disney Wine and Dine training partner...

Plus today was a "I definitely need to run" kind of day..

Yesterday I did a short 1 mile run and what I considered to be a "speed workout" for .22 miles so overall I've run a little over 5 miles this week...
It's not much, it's certainly not perfect, but it's progress.

Disney is two days away!!!

I had all of these grand plans to dress up as Pocahontas for this race, but the costume really isn't coming together :( I'm still trying to figure out if I should continue to try and make the costume work or if I should just skip the entire costume idea and run in my regular running attire.

Costumes for Disney races? Yay or Nay?

Have you ever dressed up for a race?

Have you ever had to serve on a Jury?

  1. At first I was really excited to make a costume for the Princess half this year, but the closer I got to the race the more ridiculous I felt. I ended up with an almost costume: my shirts and shorts matched the colors of Anna. During the race I kind of wished I had put a little more effort into it. There were a lot of way over the top costumes that I would never want to run in, but I think I could have managed something a little more costume-y. If/when I head back to a runDisney event, I am planning do a costume.

    1. Hey Heather! I know a couple of people that are dressing up or have dressed up in the past and they all seem/seemed pretty excited about it as well. I think I'm more attached to the idea of running in my compression pants than I am about an Indian Princess skirt though ;)
      Maybe next time :)

    2. That is exactly what I would have said before Princess :) I just wanted my normal compression socks and shorts, none of that skirt business. I think it also depends on if you are aiming for a certain time or if you are just running for fun. If you are hoping for a PR I wouldn't mess around with a costume.

    3. I'm definitely not aiming for a PR...sitting being cautious about my hip injury :( but I agree that the fun races are the best opportunities to dress up :)

  2. I've never dressed up for a race, even though I've just raced on Halloween lol... Good luck with the jury service, I hope you get something exciting... But I guess you won't be able to tell us?

  3. I think being a part of a big criminal case would definitely be interesting! I love that sort of thing. Of course, I have yet to get picked for a jury. As far as dressing up for a race goes, go for it if you can. I dressed up as Captain America for my first runDisney race and it was a lot of fun!

The costume just wasn't coming together for me this time. I should have put more effort into it earlier :(
