Blogger withdrawal & my weekly recap

I suffered from an extreme case of "blogger withdrawal" this week. My last post was on Monday and that feels like a lifetime ago! I knew this week was going to be a hectic work week and I really want to say that my training wasn't drastically affected by the changes in my schedule, but sadly that would be far from the truth.

I was able to run on Wednesday, but only for 2 miles... and even that was a struggle :(
(don't let the smiling pic fool you...I'm just glad the run was over. In that moment I didn't really feel like I was "getting stronger" at all)

Also on Wednesday I got an email that the Ft. Lauderdale Airport 5K has been rescheduled!!!! This was the 5K that they had to postpone last year because the "runway was not safe". Apparently they fixed it (hopefully they fixed it)...

Thursday was "Day 1" of my job's Annual Trauma Symposium. There is a lot of time consuming planning etc that goes into putting on a conference and that continues while the conference is going on. So Thursday was pretty busy for me (and therefore no cross training was done).
The view from the conference hotel was spectacular....

But I was inside most of the time trying to soak up as much knowledge as I could....

Friday was an even busier day because I was introducing one of the nursing speakers and moderating the nursing panel discussion. But that didn't stop me from taking a few more pictures/selfies...
Post-selfies and pre-nursing lectures, I got this surprise gift from one of my friends/fellow runners at work...

.
I pretty much started crying when she gave it to me. It was such a thoughtful gesture and it truly took me by surprise. I'm going to use it for my Florida Storm Series races and race bibs so that I can keep them together :)

Also on Friday That Indie Runner blog featured the Instagram takeover that I did last week...

Today was the last day of the conference...

More selfies...

So it's finally the end of a busy work week and a semi busy Saturday. This has been one of the worst training weeks and my diet was equally as bad. I have zero expectations for my long run tomorrow. Zip. Zilch. Nada. It is the very last run with my running group until they start up again in the Fall, but I'm not sure if I'm going to run with the group or try and head out earlier and run by myself (that will probably be determined once I get to the "meet up" spot tomorrow morning).

I have 3 long runs before the Miami Beach 1/2 marathon and I feel 3 times less prepared than I felt for Miami. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with my week (busy, lack of sleep, less than ideal nutrition), so I'm hoping that I will be able to get back on track this upcoming week. I've been having too many "off" weeks this year (and we are only on WEEK 5 of 2015!!!) so there needs to be BIG changes in the upcoming weeks. I say that every time I have a bad week...every time, and yet here we are once again :(

How was your week? Did anything exciting happen?

Do you attend educational conferences for work? What's your favorite part?

How do you display your race bibs and medals?

  1. What a beautiful place for a conference! And that display your friend did for you is awesome. My dad made my medal display and I love it. All of my bibs are just in a pile. I can't decide what to do with them.

  2. What do you do with your race shirts? I saw online that some people turn their bibs and race shirts into quilts :) I may try doing that with them one day.
    The hotel was gorgeous :)
