So What Happens Now?

A lot of things have changed recently. A lot. Including my plans for the rest of 2015 (and early 2016). I have mixed emotions about the changes. It's hard when you have your heart set on something and it doesn't exactly work out the way you want it to...
First... I'm definitely going to cancel the Naples Half Marathon next month :(
I contacted the race organizers to see if I could defer the race entry until 2016 but I haven't heard back from them yet. I really don't want to lose the race entry fees, but physical therapy co-payments will cost more so I'm trying not to get too distressed about it.

Second... I'm definitely going to change Miami from the full to the half marathon :(
I wanted to do the full marathon for soooo many reasons. It's such an epic event and I had such a great time "redefining amazing" when I did the half marathon in January this year (see race recap HERE). Sadly I just don't think my body will be ready for the full. I'm hoping I won't be too heart broken about it when January 2016 rolls around and will still make it to the start line for the half. It just won't be the same though.

Third... I'm probably not going to complete my 15 new things for 2015 goal :(
I have 2.5 more months to get the remaining six things done. But it's still a lot to pack into two and a half months considering the holidays, travel plans and races I still have scheduled. I'm kind of keeping my fingers crossed about this one because I really can't deal with anything else not going the way I planned.

So what happens now?

Well, next on the agenda is the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon in November...
And then about a month after that I have the Reggae Half Marathon in Negril, Jamaica...

I spent the weekend trying to keep myself distracted from the recent change of plans and the fact that my typical therapy (i.e. running) was still on hold as part of my post-marathon recovery process. The goal to stay distracted was facilitated by the fact that my entire family was here for my big brother's surprise birthday party [Fun Fact: I love surprises...well most of them; and I LOVE BIRTHDAYS!].
The surprise party was on Friday and my sisters and brothers-in-law flew in for it...

On Saturday we all went bowling...

On Sunday I got my very first deep tissue massage...

Then we had a dedication for my grandparents...

Then we went to Mark's birthday lunch (since his actual birthday was the 18th)...

And then I took my twin sister shopping... and by "took" I mean she went shopping and I stayed in the car cause I hate to shop...
(do we look like twins?)

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun or exciting?

Do you like surprises?

Have you ever had a deep tissue or sports massage? Did you like it?

  1. I don't see enough pictures of me; that must have been a slight oversight!Don't let it happen again! :D
I love being a part of surprises but don't like being surprised. I feel like if I don't like the surprise (like a gift), the reaction on my face would be too hard to conceal....and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings!
