I probably have another few months of "shorts weather" until it starts to get cold (well "cold" for me at least). I have a couple of other pairs to try out too and I also have a running skirt!!! Don't worry, I didn't go on a recent shopping spree (I hate shopping actually). I've just been accumulating these items over time hoping that I would one day be able to wear them.
The second "new" thing this morning (aka my wishful thinking attempt) came after I had a conversation with myself. I said "self...maybe it's time to try running without the knee brace and see how it feels". So I tried it cause I figured...
The pace was typical for a slow run for me, but then I was also doing a 1:1 run:walk interval ratio. About a mile into the run I felt tightness and a few twinges behind my left knee so I walked briskly for about 3 minutes and then picked up the 1:1 ratio again until I reached 30 minutes...
Conclusion? My knee is not ready to be brace-free. The pace didn't concern me but the twinges and tightness did. So I need more time in the knee brace....and I need to learn to be more patient with my progress.
More summary pics of this morning's session...
Before I even attempted my run this morning I completed my wall sit challenge. Today is Day 17 so the goal time was 170 seconds (2 mins 50 secs) and I passed it!
(my legs were shaking and burning)
So I haven't been keeping you updated on my recent entertainment choices (I apologize). Since I still have to wait until next week for the kick start of the Fall sitcom series for my fav shows on ABC, I have been watching back to back episodes of a newly discovered show...
(I know it's not actually new but it's new to me)
I also got my latest copy of Running Times yesterday...
(I was never a magazine person until I started running and realized that this was a great way to get good information and stay connected with the running community. I read Runner's World mostly but this one is great too)
Ever had to run with a knee brace? How long did you need it?
