The longest Thursday ever....

I woke up this morning at 2:50 am and stayed lying in bed (snoozing my alarm over and over) until 4:15. I was supposed to go to the gym today but decided to do my workout at home. Damian was up and so he kept me company. I challenged him to do the wall sit by stating that I could do it longer than he could (yes I know...thou shall not boast). I was wrong, he lasted ALOT longer than I did, but I was able to complete my Day 18 goal time...

In the spirit of Core Workout Day (which is what I would have been doing at the gym) I also did 100 sit ups (4 sets of 25), my ITB rehab routine, and I did planks...

After work today I went to a wine and cheese "meet & greet" for my new running group at the Runner's Depot close by and they offered us 15% off all items in the store (except electronics). That's not something you can pass up (I love to save....hate to shop but definitely love to save) and since it's about time for me to start thinking about new shoes I decided to take advantage of the sale and make the purchase now. I currently run in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 but decided to try the latest model (the GTS 14)...
(It didn't hurt that the shoes came in purple either. And I also got my half car magnet!)

I'm going to try and start using these shoes and rotating them in my training cycle. I normally just stick with one pair and wear them to death, but that got me in trouble the last time so I'm hoping these shoes work for me and that alternating the pairs results in longer use for my GTS 13s.

I had the looooooooongest day at work today. It was hectic and sadly isn't over (well not really). I have to head back to work at 12:30am (yes...that isn't a typo...am) but thankfully only for a few hours. Then I head home and then back to work later in the morning. It will be interesting to see how well I make it through the day. When there are changes that interrupt your training schedule this late in the week (and this close to LR days) it's hard to make adjustments. It might be prudent to make tomorrow a rest day since I run both Saturday AND Sunday, and since I won't be getting a lot of uninterrupted sleep over the next few days (due to work). I'm going to just listen to my body and see how it feels and go with that.

How do you deal with last minute (unavoidable) interruptions that force schedule changes? Do you just take it in stride, or do you get as grumpy as I do?

What brand of running shoes do you use? Do you rotate through different pairs in the same brand or different brands? Or just stick to one pair at a time?
