Metaphors for life...

It's the start of a new week (well for those of us who start their weeks on Monday) and this week will have a change in my usual training schedule (due to work conflicts). Today was my rest and recovery day and my focus today has been on icing my knee, stretching, yoga and a few sets of sit ups.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will both be gym days (swimming one day and core/cardio the next). That leaves running on Thursday and Friday (even though I'm trying to avoid back-to-back running days). Saturday will be a core/pilates day (definitely non-impact activities). And Sunday will be my second attempt at my first run with my new running group. Sounds simple enough right...
(This is what usually happens with my weekly training activities)

I started today with my wall sit challenge. Today is Day 22 so my goal time was 220s...
(Yay!)
My legs were shaking like crazy after about 2 minutes and were burning, I was sweating and felt like I was about to die. The wall sit challenge is getting harder and harder. The goal is to get to 5 minutes (300s) and hopefully be able to do that consistently...maybe not every day but at least on my non-running days. And then, of course, my plan is to do the 30 day plank challenge next month!

So I've been thinking a lot about the past running year and trying (somewhat) not to dwell on the "if only" and "I remember when" thoughts. It's easy to go down that road so I'm trying to stay clear of it and focus on my training and running right now...
That means setting new goals and ensuring renewed motivation toward these goals each and every day.

Happy Monday!

I hope your training goes as planned this week :)
