Case of the Mondays...

It's been a typical Monday and I'm in my typical Monday mood...

So.....my wall sit challenge was somewhat disappointing today. I attempted the wall sit several times and wasn't able to make it past 1.5 minutes for most of them and up to 2 minutes only a few times. I finally reached the day 15 goal on attempt #7...
I don't know what's going on. Maybe my muscles are still tired from yesterday's LR? It was quite frustrating but I'm glad I was finally able to do it. Anyway I tried to do a lot of recovery stuff today. My legs felt "tight" so I've been working on foam rolling and massaging them.

I know you should never envy others but I'm kind of jealous of people who can run everyday without a problem. I have a co-worker who runs 6 miles every day (during the week) and 10 miles on Saturdays and Sundays. Wow. It takes me so long to run that type of distance I would never be able to do it everyday (not to mention the physical limitations with my knee preventing me from daily running nowadays). I think it's inspirational when I hear or read about the type of training that other runners are doing. On the other hand it wasn't too long ago that I was in physical therapy and not able to run at all so I'm grateful for the progress that I've made so far. Not everyone's running journey will be similar to my own (and vice versa)...

This week I'm refocusing on my diet and hydration. I briefly contemplated trying paleo again but remembered how expensive it was and how hungry I was so I nixed that idea quickly. Plus lunch was provided during one of my meetings at work (love free food!) and it was pretty good. I had grilled chicken, rice, steamed vegetables and a small salad and then mahi mahi and rice (yes, you counted correctly..I ate twice. It's free food people!). So basically I had both lunch and dinner at work (I try not to eat after 5pm anyway).

I'm spending the rest of the evening resting (and grading assignments for my online class). Tomorrow is a cardio day so I'm going to go to bed early tonight (hopefully) once I finish working. And, if all goes well tomorrow will be better than today...
Hope you had a great Monday!

How many days a week do you run? Any everyday runners out there?

  1. I always get injured if I try and run every day. I run 4 days a week.

I agree paleo is expensive, but when I'm on it, (and I cycle on and off from a high carb runners diet to paleo), I never feel hungry. I was wondering why you feel hungry?

I'm new to your blog and I love it.

    1. Thank you for checking out the blog! Please keep visiting and commenting (I LOVE that!). I think the paleo thing didn't work for me because the expense impeded the ability to get enough of the foods I needed. There are not many great food choices at work and so I would eat what I could on the budget I had to work with. I ended up just being hungry and cranky (because I was hungry) all the time.
Questions for you...what days do you run (how do you space them out) and what does your high carb diet look like?
