Push-ups are seriously a lot harder than they look. People assume I'm exaggerating when I say I don't know how to do them properly... and then I show them and they're like "Ahmmmm ok so that wasn't technically a push-up. In fact I'm not sure what that was". Great, thanks. Fortunately I got a few tips from my friends today and I watched a bunch of videos online so hopefully by Friday I will be able to do 3.
I had a nice 5K run with my friend Niqui this morning despite the insane humidity levels at 6am...
I stopped my Garmin right at the 3.1 mile mark (because my OCD was in overdrive)...
...and ran a bit further until Niqui's running app reached 5K. Do you guys do that too when running with friends... run until everyone's watches/apps reach the targeted distance goal?
On the way back we took scenery pics...
And a "for my blog" mandatory post-run selfie...
And then once I got home I tried to do some of the Chi Running drills I was supposed to be practicing since last week Thursday. The good news is I'm not heel striking anymore...
The bad news is I'm still over-striding...
But even with the over-striding issue I can feel an improvement in how my legs feel after my runs recently. I haven't had any knee or hip pain. And ever since I started wearing the calf compression sleeves I haven't had any major issues with shin splints. Plus with my new ankle sleeves my left ankle feels less sore!
This morning I also wore a compression sleeve on my left knee because it felt "tight" (but not painful) so basically my lower extremities were held together by a variety of different types of compression devices. Honestly, at this rate I might as well buy the CWX compression pants I was talking about last month...
They have purple in them... so obviously they work! ;)
This was the MilePost quote for this morning...
When I read it I thought "Hmmm... I can run and smile at the same time; that must mean I'm talented". And then I realized that it didn't mean I was talented.... it meant I was slow :(
Did you run, rest, or cross train today?
What compression devices do you use?
Are you doing a 30 Day Challenge for May? Which one?
When I run with friends, we usually make sure all apps/gadgets say the mile marker we are aiming for. And usually our apps are earlier than the Garmin. I wonder why this is? I should do this 30 day push up challenge too...my upper arm strength is zero.
ReplyDeleteI used to use Runtastic and it was very generous with mileage. I would reach the distance on Runtastic about 0.2 miles or more before my friends reached it on their Garmins. I use Garmin now and actually prefer it because it is more in line with the actual race courses (or at least it has been for me).
DeleteTry the challenge with me! I really want to stick to it and if I can by the end of the month I will be stronger :) I might mix in a 30 Day sit up challenge as well too ;)
