Wait, What?!

I got an email from the lovely people at the Chicago Marathon with instructions on how to submit my application for guaranteed entry into this year's event {I was lucky enough to get chosen via the lottery for the 2014 event but had to defer due to an injury}. So I entered all the required info and then got this follow up...
Wait, What?! What does that mean??? Does that mean there is a possibility I won't get approved????

I'm going to try and stay positive and convince myself that they have to put that type of language in the email for legal purposes because if I don't get into Chicago this year I. Will. Cry

Everyone talks about Boston being their "bucket list" event. Well, maybe not everyone, but most marathon runners do. Boston is fine and I'm sure being fast enough to qualify may appeal to me some day. But Chicago is my dream race (and Athens, Greece of course). I haven't even looked at running any other full marathons before October because Chicago is supposed to be my first one! I refused to train for one that was before Chicago. It's the ONLY reason why I'm training and running my long runs over the Summer. The amount of dedication and commitment it takes to train during the Summer in Florida when the temperatures are in the triple digits and the humidity levels earn an A+ should be enough to guarantee my entry :(

I know I'm having a total "glass half-empty" moment right now, but just the thought of there being a remote possibility that my application won't be approved makes me sad (Actually, I'm a little over applications in general today; but that's a very long story and not worth the blog post space)...

Anyway, since there is nothing I can do but wait 5-7 business days for either the MAGNIFICENTLY GREAT or extremely horrific and utterly depressing news, let me tell you about the rest of my day:

I ran after work today and it was hot and humid! If it wasn't for great company I would have postponed it until tomorrow morning. But I really like running with my friends so I stuck with it and completed the 5K run...

Post run summary...

I still haven't worked out the whole nutrition thing for evening running sessions so I ended up with this burning abdominal sensation. I don't think I'm going to make evening running a habit, but I will need to figure out how to avoid a recurrence in the future for those days when I don't have a choice but to run in the evening (any suggestions for different things to try?)

I also did a wall sit session today. Not a long one, but long enough...

And I went walking up and down in the mall after my run to try and find the right pair of shoes for my baby sister's wedding. I found a nice pair similar to this...
...but the store didn't have any in my size :(
That means I have to go shopping again tomorrow. Have I mentioned how much I hate shopping? Sigh. Wish me luck!

Is anyone else waiting to get confirmation of their entry into the Chicago Marathon?

Any nutrition tips for evening running?

  1. You go girl! I hope you make it into Chicago! That's an awesome goal to have! And a wall sit over two minutes? That's pretty impressive to me! Keep up the great work!!
