What gold medals are made of...

Time spent allowing your body to recover is priceless. On Tuesday I focused my workout activities on stuff that did not pressure my shoulders, helped strengthen my legs, and helped strengthen my core. First I did my wall sit. It's been a while since I've talked about my wall sit activities....mainly because it's been a while since I've done any (7 days to be exact). Doing the wall sit yesterday morning, after taking a break from it, was a good reminder that I should not take a break from it for too long. It was HARD. But I got through the 5 minutes (barely)...

My Tuesday morning motivational quote from Mileposts...
Sometimes these quotes seemed hand picked just for me. This was a good reminder that I should not dwell on the minor set back from this issue with my rotator cuff tendons. Even though I was cleared to run by my ortho surgeon on Monday, I was feeling (for a brief period) that it really sucks to have to battle through different injuries on my way to the 26.2 finish line (which I am hoping will be the first of many finish lines)...

I reminded myself (with a lot of help from my Tuesday Milepost quote) that I'm cleared to run! so I nixed the pity party. After my wall sit yesterday morning, I did a few sets of sit ups, some of my old exercises from physical therapy, and a short yoga remix (i.e only moves that didn't put pressure on my shoulders....or on my knee....so basically I sat down and meditated and did a few warrior poses).

This morning I ran. I didn't have a specific plan for this morning's session because I wanted to focus on just listening to my body. I never know how my body will perform the first run after my longest LR. I did my warm up 1/2 mile brisk walk and realized half-way through my warm up that I forgot my knee brace...
That forced me to really pay attention to my body and to carefully watch how I was landing.

I ended up doing a 5K run...

Pace per mile...

Not exactly a speed demon but look at all the red!!! :)

I was drenched by the end of my run...
And then got this Milepost quote this morning...
(see?...perfect messages for me)

How have your mid-week workouts been so far?
