A Chance of Daily Happiness...

I absolutely loved the weather for my run this morning! It was nice and cool and perfect... especially since I was only doing a mile...

Yesterday when I did my 5K run with Jani I was feeling simultaneously happy with my pace (10:19 min/mile average pace) and wondering how far behind I've fallen in my overall training. And then, this morning, Facebook sent me a memory from last year...
It was a good reminder that even though I feel like I've fallen behind training-wise, I'm not far from where I used to be. Reminders like these also help keep me motivated. I have to work on it more (obviously) but a sub-30 minute 5K is not so far fetched after all 😊.

I decided to kick off the race weekend a little earlier than usual and went to go get my race packet at the Publix Health & Fitness Expo. When we got there it was really early and as a result... no lines (which was a complete contrast the Miami Half Marathon Expo a few weeks ago; but then Miami's event is about 10x bigger)...

After we got the race bib, bag & shirt, we walked around for a bit checking out the vendors, buying electrolytes for the race on Sunday, and taking pictures with cartoon cut-outs. This is my typical pace...

This is what my feet look like when I run 🙈...
(those cut-outs were probably for the kids, but I'm young at heart so... 😉)

We eventually found the wall...

And my name...

And then I posed as the most important digit in the half marathon distance...
(repping +Binary Fashion; photo cred: my inspiration for the shirt)

With the expo out of the way, the rest of the day was spent relaxing and trying to hydrate. I'm not really in a "carb-loading" frame of mind right now, but I did notice that one of my breakfast options included "crunchy french toast" 😃 (that's definitely on the menu for tomorrow).

How was your Friday?

Any races this weekend?

Do you like going to race expos? When do you normally go (early or late)?
