The first one is the Miami Children's 5K which is coming up on September 20th this year! Some of you may recall that this was my first racing event last year. You can find my brief race recap here. There is always a great cause behind each 5K, and usually it's a child with a compelling story. But even if you don't participate for the cause, it's still an amazing 5K. The route is nice and flat, the medals are amazing, and they have a ton of activities before and after for everyone.
One of the greatest things about the races for a cause is that you know your registration and fundraising dollars are going towards something bigger. I don't jump on every 5K "race for a cause" event but MCH was my first "home" as a nurse and so when they combine something that I love (running) with something exciting (great finisher medals) to benefit something important (helping a very sick child) I am on board!
I still haven't decided what my Fall events will be. I know I want to do another 1/2 before the end of the year and the FL storm series has my attention at the moment, but I haven't registered yet....still trying to decide.
On a completely unrelated note...
sometimes it's the little things that matter
