I had both ankles wrapped yesterday and while they were wrapped I didn't feel the popping, but once they weren't wrapped it was noticeable again. In my effort to be proactive with my injury prevention I already scheduled an appointment with my Orthopedic Surgeon for next week. Until then my plan
But this morning my body was telling me to go back to sleep. So I ignored it (since I figured the desire for sleep was more out of laziness than actual need). And even though my ankle still had the (mild) popping sensation I ran...

I did a 5K...
And I was completely exhausted after...
but not in pain which was a really good sign :)
I got new running shoes to add to my rotation over the weekend (and wore them this morning)...
Post run pic...
I was trying to beat my Garmin 5K PR from March 26th, but I missed it by a few seconds...
I'm sure there were moments when I could have pushed a little harder, but one day I will be able to run a sub-30 minute 5K. Maybe not one day soon....but one day ;)
I'm always looking for ways to improve, not only with my running but also with the various cross training activities that I do. A few days ago I heard about Fired Up Athletic Force and the Health Expo they are having this Sunday...
It's a local event that will be bringing fitness experts from a variety of arenas to one location.
You can check out their Facebook page HERE for more info about the event.
Do you go to Fitness or Health Expos?
What's your fastest 5K time?
Do you prefer the shorter distance races (5Ks & 10Ks) or longer distances (10 miles & up)?
How do you like the Pure Cadence? I just bought a pair of Ghosts as a more supportive option than my Pure Flows.
ReplyDeleteI love them!!!! I never tried the Ghosts or Pure Flows (I just went with the ones that the people at Runners Depot recommended based on my gait). I used to wear the Adrenaline GTS but they were causing my to overcompensate and leading to more injuries. I've only had them for a few months but so far they are amazing!
DeleteI prefer longer distance races, although last year I really liked the 10k. I only do 1 5k a year--the one in my town. It is coming up in one month, I find 5k's to be particularly painful!!
ReplyDeleteI go to the pre-race expo's. I think it is fun to see the products!
I agree with you about the 5Ks. Not my favorite event at all. So far my absolute favorite distances are 10 miles and the half. But I'm hoping I fall in love with the full marathon distance since I plan to run 13 of them ;)
