We The Jury...

I had jury duty today!!! I was there all morning eagerly waiting to be picked for an exciting capital murder or corporate espionage case, but sadly the most exciting part of today's civic responsibility was that they paid for parking...
After jury duty, I ate lunch and then wandered around Barnes and Noble in search of a 2017 planner that could double as my training journal. One of the things I love about Barnes and Noble is that they give their customers options...
(as seen on my wandering spree)

My running streak continued this morning (before jury duty) with what should have been a 5K run, but actually ended up being a one mile run 😞. I'm still not 100% recovered from the flu, and although I do feel a lot better, (based on this morning) I still have a long way to go. But so far my one mile runs this week have been at a sub-12 mins/mile pace so I'm happy about that...

I also spent a few hours working on the jigsaw puzzle that my parents got me for Christmas...
(pictures of my race medals broken into 2000 pieces of jigsaw puzzle goodness!)

I have a standard strategy set of rules when it comes to jigsaw puzzles. Rule #1 - Do the border first...

I love jigsaw puzzles 😍! I'm really excited to do this one because it's personalized. But I promised my mom I wouldn't try to do it in one sitting (she knows me well), so after I finished the border I binge watched the remaining three episodes in the Leverage series...
And for the rest of the day I had my latest song crush ("Still" by Hillsong United) on repeat...

I need recommendations for training journals guys! In 2014 I used the Runner's World training journal...

And I loved it. But since then I haven't used one, and now that I want to use one again I would like to try something different. So what do you guys recommend?

What training journal(s) do you use?

What's your latest song crush?

What show(s) are you binge watching now?

  1. Ugh...jury duty. I had it back in June, just after school was over. There were a ton of teachers in the pool and it was a trial on sexual abuse of a minor. I could not believe how many people said they'd be able to be neutral, even after saying they'd been close to people who had been victims themselves. When they got to me, I was like, now way. I couldn't be unbiased in sexual assault of an adult, and there's NO chance of me being unbiased when it comes to a child.
I need some new binge ideas! I'm going to have surgery and I'll be stuck at home for a few weeks...I'm going to pop back to see if anyone gives you ideas!

    1. I completely agree with you! I would never be able to stay unbiased for a case like that. I'm a pediatric trauma nurse and I have to review child abuse cases all the time. It's one of the hardest parts of my job. I would be on the jury shouting "Off with his (her) head!" before opening statements began ;)
I'm sorry to hear about the surgery. I hope you have a quick recovery. Have you watched Leverage already? That one is good. And then I heard that Game of Thrones is really good also (I've never watched it). And if you can find it, the West Wing is old but good too :)

  2. OMG that Barnes and noble picture... 😂😂😂 I have been using the Believe training journal and love it! It's the only one I've used though so I don't have anything to compare it with.

    1. I saw that one and was wondering what's the difference between the Believe and Compete training journals. I wish I could compare a few different training journals side-by-side :(
      Do you order yours online?
